Global Missions

Going and making disciples of all nations — through medical mission, partnership, and the work of our hands.

Mission Partner

ESLC Honduras Mission

For the past several years, members and friends from ESLC have traveled to Honduras on a short-term mission trip. Our host is World Gospel Outreach, a mission organization headquartered in Tegucigalpa. WGO has ministered in Honduras for 34 years and in that time has served 1.3 million people. The mission of a WGO Serve Team is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the least of these in Honduras.

ESLC teams travel there during the last week of February each year, joining with two additional churches for the week. The mission is medical with an evangelistic outcome — we bring medical, dental, optical, and pharmaceutical services to the people, and then share the Gospel with them. Children's ministry is also part of the trip.

Team members participate in all aspects of the ministry with no special qualifications for most duties — though doctors and nurses are always needed. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the missionary life on a short-term basis while responding to God's call to “go and make disciples of all nations.”

Local Outreach

Toys for God's Kids

ESLC has a group of men and women who have started a chapter for the Toys for God's Kids nationwide organization. TFGK makes toy cars to send to the mission fields with missionaries and to foreign countries with deployed military personnel. These toy cars are given to children who have no toys to speak of, bringing them joy beyond belief.

Last year over 3,000 cars were sent to Honduras, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Haiti, Kenya, El Salvador, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, and to local agencies.

Those who make the cars are known as Smilemakers — and our group is always in need of more. Cars are cut with scroll saws, sanded on a belt sander, routed, and assembled. Volunteers can plug in wherever they feel comfortable. Come and be a Smilemaker!

Partner Church

Haiti Mission

ESLC is directly involved in the Lutheran Church of Haiti, in fellowship with the LCMS. We have visited the church and school in Laotchikit, in the Central Plateau. We've visited the church in the nearby village of Pas Bonbon and financed the start of the school there, which opened in September 2018.

Currently we are building a kitchen to replace the current method of cooking over an open fire outside. Additional projects include French-language Bibles, a well and pump for running water, and additional classroom structures.
